There are 2 main types of check up (dental examination):
The routine check up This is your opportunity, after all your dental treatment has been completed, on a regular basis to make sure that your teeth are in good health. It is usually every 6-12 months depending on the dentist's recommendation. It will hopefully prevent any major problems before they occur.
The initial examination This is a thorough dental examination which will check the condition or your teeth (and any dental work present), gums and surrounding tissues of the mouth. At your initial dental check up you will meet your dentist and be able to ask questions, talk about any concerns you have and all treatment options for you will be discussed. You will have plenty of time to talk about what you have in mind. We’ll review your medical history and discuss any issues that may affect your treatment.
After this, your dentist will carry out a thorough examination of your mouth checking all of your teeth and gums. We use the very latest dental technology including intra-oral cameras and digital x-rays so you are able to see the condition of your teeth. You may ask any questions you may have afterward. We aim to make this experience as interactive and informative as possible so that you understand all your options. After this, your dentist provide you a treatment plan with your various options.
